STRUCTURAL STATIC ANALYSIS OF BIKE FRAME
In this project I was applied weights to a bike frame at various locations to determine the equivalent (Von Mises) Stress and total displacement. From this I determined the various forces acting on a bicycle in active use. I also determined the structural vulnerability of having an individual riding on the handle bars. This information is important in designing a product and is the reason for the warning "Do not sit on handle bars".
The image above shows the various forces acting on the bike and the observed points of desired observation. Please note that Wheels and gears were not necessary in this analysis, and so only the frame was simulated.
