Plate with Hole
Rectangular Plate with Hole Subjected to Tensile Loading
In this project I took the classic problem of a plate with a hole in the middle and subjected it to a tensile load. The addition of the hole means that the plate no longer experiences the force consistently, and acts unusually around the hole. Rather than do hand calculations for every point along the circumference, I was able to develop the displacement and equivalent stress contours for the object. I was also able to observe the stress along the more narrow side of the plate as a result of the results of the face. This model demonstrates the time and effort saved through the simulation process.

The above model shows the Equivalent stress of a plate with a hole subjected to tensile loading.
